Martha Shelley will co-lead the firm’s core real estate fund; Eric Cannon will become Deputy Portfolio Manager for the firm’s value-added fund.

Los Angeles, CA (March 6, 2023) – American Realty Advisors (ARA) has announced that Martha Shelley will co-lead the firm’s core real estate strategy, assuming the role of Co-Portfolio Manager of the firm’s $8.491 billion core real estate commingled fund. Eric Cannon will become the Deputy Portfolio Manager of the firm’s $3.37 billion value-added real estate commingled fund.

As Co-Portfolio Manager, Ms. Shelley will share responsibility for all components of core fund management including the development and implementation of portfolio strategy, investment composition, including acquisition and disposition activities, property operations, fund data analytics, and client services and reporting. She will work alongside Scott Darling, who is the existing Co-Portfolio Manager of the Core Fund. Ms. Shelley will continue in her positions on the firm’s Investment, ESG+R, and Valuation Committees. Ms. Shelley previously served as Deputy Portfolio Manager for ARA’s value-added fund.

Mr. Cannon will become the Deputy Portfolio Manager for ARA’s value-added fund. He previously served as Managing Director of ARA’s Investment Group, where he was responsible for sourcing investments for all of the firm’s strategies in the East and Northeast regions. Mr. Cannon will work alongside the fund’s current portfolio manager, Kirk Helgeson, to execute all strategy and management activity.
