Exhibit by Bobbie Oliver Opens at 499 Park Avenue
The exhibition features five large-scale paintings on display in the Lobby Gallery at 499 Park Avenue, New York, New York.
An important exhibition of richly colored large-scale paintings by noted artist Bobbie Oliver has opened in the Lobby Gallery at 499 Park Avenue in Manhattan, in cooperation with Catskill Art Space. The exhibition will be on display until Fall of 2025.
Based in the western Catskills and New York City, artist Bobbie Oliver created the paintings in this exhibition at her upstate New York studio in winter 2019. According to the Executive Director of the Catskill Art Space, Sally Wright, “Referencing the physicality and geographic place of their fabrication, these paintings use a palette of blues and greens, reflecting the rushing rivers and lush coniferous forests around the artist.”
Born in Canada, Bobbie Oliver lived in London, England, for 10 years in her twenties and moved to New York in the 1970s. She has had over 20 solo shows and numerous group shows in her career. Her work is represented by Olga Korper Gallery in Toronto and by High Noon Gallery in New York. Oliver is the recipient of many distinguished grants, including the Canada Council Grant, Ontario Arts Council, the New York State Council for the Arts and the Pollock Krasner Award. She has been awarded residencies at the Edward Albee Foundation twice in Montauk and Civitella Ranieri Foundation in Umbria, Italy.
499 Park Avenue, originally designed by Pei, Cobb Freed & Partners Architects (PCF), is owned by American Realty Advisors on behalf of its investors. Through its Lobby Gallery exhibition program, 499 Park contributes to the cultural community as an expression of ongoing commitment to excellence in the visual arts and architecture. Over the past decade, the building has showcased notable artwork from artists including Richard Anuszkiewicz, Melissa Meyer, and Kim Uchiyama.
